29/10/2005 Yesterday I tried to watch with open eyes Tsukamoto's 'Tokyo Fist',
it is to Raging Bull what Ragin Bull was to Rocky.
Boxing as (self)mutilation and the urge to kill, and an equally harsh portrayal of life in a couple.
Essentially Tsukamoto remains true to what he had established with both Tetsuo's: keep the budget low and the camera moving, do it all yourself, concentrate on passing on how your characters live their hell and stick to your own obsessions. So rage still transforms people, not into a metal weapon but into a fleshy one.
