14/12/2006 Last night I was enjoying my risoto with calamares when a German woman from the next table said RTBF -the public channel of the French speaking half of the country- announced that Flanders proclaimed its independance.
We never went for it,
but many people did and started calling police etc.

RTBF wanted to get the debate going among the population,
so they went for a fake newsflash -after some months of preparation,
followed by a debate.

They didn't fool just the common man,
several foreign ambassadors admitted to Agence France Press having send the message to their capital.

The next day politicians from both language communities condemn this brave and surreal effort.
Because we wouldn't want people to question the 'objectivity' of television, now would we?

So after all maybe the scandal isn't dead.
